Period - Self-Portraits
2020 - ongoing
An ongoing series of self-portraits taken in the privacy of the artist’s home, begun during the isolation of the pandemic and continuing as a personal ritual. The work explores menstruation as a complex, embodied experience—one marked by pain, discomfort, and exhaustion, yet also by resilience, beauty, and unexpected moments of humor.
Through quiet, intimate compositions, the artist documents her bleeding body not for display, but for reflection — reclaiming space for an experience so often hidden, sanitized, or shamed. Some images are tender and contemplative, others playfully absurd, capturing the surreal and deeply human aspects of living in a cyclical body.
By turning the lens on herself, the artist opens a visual dialogue about menstruation that resists singular narratives — embracing its contradictions and insisting on its visibility.
