Period Celebration Party at Malta Festival in Poznan, Poland
Golden Vulva sculpture and Red Tent - my set design for Period Celebration Party at Malta Festival in Poznan, 12.09.2024
As part of the Malta Festival’s 2024 edition, I was invited to conceptualize and organize the Period Celebration Party — a multidisciplinary event blending performance, installation, and community participation. The festival approached me to create a project aligned with their mission of fostering dialogue across cultures and artistic practices.
The Malta Festival stands as one of the key cultural events in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe. With over 30 years of history, it has grown into a vibrant meeting point for diverse artistic disciplines, cultural perspectives, and bold ideas. As a multidisciplinary platform, the festival blends theater, dance, music, visual arts, film, and performance, creating a dynamic space for artistic exploration and experimentation.

I developed the full concept and artistic direction for the event, including the scenography inspired by ritual, celebration, and empowerment. A central piece of the space was a 2-meter Golden Vulva sculpture, originally hand-sculpted in clay by me as a maquette and then brought to life in full scale by emerging sculptor Iga Golubska, a student at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań.
The set also featured a Red Tent — an intimate, cocoon-like structure that hosted a pre-party workshop by Malwina Mango and later unfolded into an atmospheric dance floor. I designed the Period Charm, a jewelry pendant cast in brass by local craftswoman Savvy Jewelry, which was gifted to guests as a bracelet upon entry.

Playful, bold, and celebratory elements included oversized golden balloons spelling “Period Celebration Party,” a photo wall echoing celebrity red carpet setups, and custom Period Money (designed by me) which guests could shoot from red money guns in a burst of crimson fanfare.
The event attracted an international audience, including actor Tim Robbins and his theater company, as well as dancers from Project Elimu in Kibera, Kenya. We were honored to be under the patronage of the Vagina Museum in London.

The entire venue was bathed in red light, with installations showcasing the Berlin Boudoir series and the evolution of the Period Celebration Party as a participatory art concept.
